The Sopranos: The Complete Series – Review

The Sopranos: The Complete Series – Review –

The Sopranos is often credited with turning serialized television into an actual art form but how well does it hold up after 20 years of other countless series trying to take its place let's take a look the story follows Anthony soprano an Italian American mobster from New Jersey throughout the series Anthony struggles to distinguish his family at home.

From his family of work which of course brings a lot of tension to both facets of his life a lot of conflict comes from Anthony's organized crime ring between the Mafia power dynamics to the Federal Bureau of Investigations. That continue to haunt the entire series the writing for many episodes is superb even after so much time.

The Sopranos still feature some of the best dialogue I've ever heard every sentence is succinct and oozes character helping build unique voices for everyone that Appears.

however not every season is written evenly there were many points in the show in which I didn't feel invested with the plot and seasonal conclusions were largely unsatisfying these flowers just draw away from the show's immersion covering each of the cast members were taking way too long so I'm just gonna focus on the ones that actually stood out to me with his portrayal of Anthony.

Soprano is undisputable that James Gandolfini is one of the greatest actors of our generation every scene had James bring his all and this performance was incredibly convincing perhaps making up for some of the writing shortcomings

The show also sports the fantastic actress and Edie Falco who plays Carmela soprano Edie's chemistry with James surprisingly makes her seen some of the best in the entire series for instance there's a scene at the end of season 4 that blew me away and it's actually one of the best scenes of the entire series the rest of the actors are generally solid.

So steve Schirripa performance of Bobby and Dominic Chinese's performance of jr. managed to stand out each took what could have been a generic character and easily elevated it beyond the material first show this almost twenty years old.

The Sopranos looks stunning color correction is generally warm mixed with cool tints for the show's darker moments I also don't remember a single week episode in terms of direction. The Sopranos Illustrated excellent cinematography that was unheard of at the time every episode brought a film like quality to it perhaps the most interesting part of the show's production is its choice in music besides the catchy main theme music rarely accompanies the series despite this.

The Sopranos is actually quite entertaining and impactful with its drama and suspense ultimately the sopranos is not the greatest serialized drama of all time as many seem to think it is on the other hand I can't deny how brilliant a show can be at certain points including the ending and the show is still an easy recommendation for fans of mafia-related entertainment Sopranos it's a seven you.
